Employee Spotlight: Sam Palmer
Sam Palmer is our Venice Office Manager, and has been with the Paradise Dermatology team since July 2020. After witnessing her mother's career as a medical assistant, Sam was interested in following her path and pursuing medicine. She loves being a part of the Paradise team, especially when it comes to her leadership role as an educator for both her patients and staff. Read what Sam shared with us below!
I moved to Englewood, FL a little over 9 years ago. I was born in Orlando, FL but was raised in Knoxville, TN since I was 2 years old. I have been with my fiancé for over 8 years and we currently have a 4-year-old young boy, 1 dog, and lots of fish.
I grew up with my mother being a medical assistant all of her career and I loved the idea of following in her path. I loved medicine from a very young age. I started out being a medical records clerk with a GI group when I was 16 years old. I worked 2 jobs in high school to put myself through college. I graduated with my Associate in Science degree in 2015. I have decided to go back to school and pursue a degree in management. I am set to graduate in December 2023 with my Bachelor of Health Services Administration degree from SCF.
I have been working in dermatology for a little over 12 years now. I started out being a receptionist and was trained to be a medical assistant, a Mohs Histology Technician, and finally a manager. I absolutely love working at Paradise Dermatology because of the amazing team! All of the providers and staff members are wonderful to work with. I can say that the team at Paradise is family!
What I enjoy most about being at Paradise and being a leader is that I am able to spread knowledge not only to patients, but also my team. I enjoy teaching patients about their skin and all the different treatments. I also enjoy teaching my team about anything I can teach them. I have filled so many different shoes in dermatology that I am very knowledgeable about it and I like being able to teach others.
Currently, I am very busy with being a mother, a student, and a full-time team member of Paradise Dermatology. However, when I find free time, I love spending time with friends and family. We love to go out on the boat with my parents. I like taking my son for walks on the beach with my mom and look for sharks’ teeth. The one thing I absolutely enjoy the most is watching my son being so happy and making memories with his father and his grandparents.
